• Passport validity of at least six months remaining from your intended date of entry.
• Confirmed return or onward flight tickets showing you will leave Thailand within your permitted stay.
• Hotel booking confirmation or, if staying with someone, a host invitation letter along with a copy of their identification.
• Proof of funds where requested. Certain visa-exempt entries use a threshold of THB 10,000 per person or THB 20,000 per family, while tourist visa applicants may face a higher requirement, so check the figure tied to your specific entry category.
• Thailand Digital Arrival Card, submitted through the official Thai Immigration system within three days before your arrival, including the day you land.

If you are applying for an e-Visa rather than travelling visa-free, add passport-sized photographs, a completed application form for your visa category, and supporting financial statements to that list.

Thailand's Digital Arrival Card deserves its mention here. All non-Thai nationals entering the country should submit it online before entry, including those who are eligible for the visa exemption, for a period of 3 days before the date of entry until the date of entry itself.

Thailand Visa Fees and Validity for Indian Travellers

The fees and validity are based on the category applied under, and the Royal Thai Embassy releases the specific fees and validity for each category.

A single-entry tourist visa costs INR 3,000, stays valid for three months, and allows up to 60 days per entry. A multiple-entry tourist visa is valid for 6 months, with up to 60 days allowed for each entry during the period of validity, and costs INR 13,500.

Business and long-stay travellers have separate categories. A single entry non-immigrant visa costs INR 7,000 and is generally valid for three months with up to 90 days' stay. The Destination Thailand Visa costs INR 30,000, carries five-year multiple-entry validity, and allows stays of up to 180 days per entry, making it suited to remote work or extended travel rather than a standard holiday. 

Application Process for E-Visa and Long Stay Categories

Applying through the official e-Visa system involves a handful of sequential steps, and missing one usually means going back to fix it later rather than losing your place entirely. Processing currently takes up to 14 working days from the date your visa fee receipt is issued, so building in a buffer before departure is worth doing.

Here is how the process runs from start to finish:

• Register an account on Thailand's official e-Visa website using your basic personal details.
• Select the visa type matching your purpose of travel, whether tourism, business, or a longer stay category.
• Submit copies of your passport, recent photos, a confirmed flight itinerary, and financial statements.
• Submit the completed application and follow the payment instructions provided by the responsible Thai Embassy or Consulate General, since India currently uses an offline payment method rather than online card payment.
• Wait for approval, which will be received via email once your application has passed the review process, and the fee receipt date will be recorded for tracking purposes to ensure you have 14 working days.

Mistakes to Avoid Before You Book

A surprising number of trip delays trace back to errors made weeks before departure, not at the airport itself. Passport renewals tend to be put off till the very last moment, while assumptions made according to policies followed on your last trip are rarely relevant.
